Erasmus Student Network jest ogólnoeuropejską organizacją studencką o charakterze non-profit, której celem jest wspieranie i rozwój programów międzynarodowych wymian studenckich, w tym zwłaszcza programu Erasmus. Hasło "Students helping Students" jest mottem organizacji. /źródło www.esn.pl/
ESN SWPS
Sekcja ESN SWPS istnieje oficjalnie od grudnia 2007 roku, wtedy to zatwierdzono nasze istnienie i zaczęto wspierać działalność. Nie był to jednak sam początek. Juz wcześniej założyciele sekcji starali się działać nie tylko na rzecz ESN Polska, ale oczywiście przede wszystkim na rzecz zagranicznych studentów. Tym bardziej cieszymy się, że teraz funkcjonując juz oficjalnie możemy swoimi działaniami i doświadczeniami dzielić sie z innymi, pomagając tym samym Erasmusom nie tylko z SWPSu, ale także z całej Polski. Twórcami sukcesu, którym było powstanie sekcji są członkinie pierwszego zarządu Marysia Grabiszewska, Basia Grochowska i Ania Sztupecka.
Co robimy?
Aktualnie sekcja uczestniczy w kilku programach ESN Polska i ENS International:
- program Mentor- obejmujący opiekę nad studentami przyjeżdżającymi z zagranicy
- program Travel- związany z organizacją wycieczek i wyjazdów dla Erasmusów w całej Polsce
- program Język za język- służący nauce języka ojczystego miedzy mentorem a Erasmusem.
- program PRIME- mający na celu ujednolicenie zasad wyjazdów na wymiany studenckie w całej Europie
Oraz w programach nie objętych patronatem ESN Polska jak
- Atlantis- wymiana studencka między Polską, Stanami Zjednoczonymi i Węgrami
- opieka nad przyjeżdżającymi do nas studentami z Azji
Uczestniczymy także w konkursach oraz eventach ogólnopolskich i lokalnych jak:
- konkurs fotograficzny Discover Europe (http://discovereurope.esn.pl/),
- Treasure Hunt (międzynarodowe podchody),
- Erasmus Cup (turniej piłki nożnej),
- juwenalia,
- Polish- & Euro-Dinner oraz wiele innych.
W chwili obecnej w ESN SWPS działa kilkadziesiąt osób, w tym zarząd w 3 osobach, grupy robocze oraz mentorzy i ochotnicy. Mamy nadzieję, że ilość tych osób będzie sie sukcesywnie powiększać, dzięki czemu będzie nam sie pracowało coraz łatwiej i coraz weselej:)

What is ESN?
Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, founded in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange. We are present in 282 Higher Education Institutions from 34 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding.
ESN is working in Higher Education (HE):
- Offering services to 150.000 students
- mainly on a volunteer basis
- with an average annual growth rate of 12,3% since 1990
- ESN is operating on three levels, Local, National and International
ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing the student exchange from different levels, and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad ("internationalization at home")
Aims
In synthesis, ESN:
- works in the interest of exchange students.
- works to improve the social and practical integration of exchange students.
- represents the needs and expectations of exchange students on the local, national and international level.
- provides relevant information about academic exchange programs and ESN resources.
- works with the reintegration of homecoming students.
- contributes to the evaluation of different exchange programs.
Who are we for?
Homecoming students
The students who are returning from exchange are being supported in reintegration process in their home countries by keeping contact with an international environment. Many local sections are set up by former exchange students, often because they have had good experiences from their exchange period or because they felt a lack of help during their exchange. They also understand better the issues and challenges in a foreign environment.
Exchange students
However, the main focus of ESN is placed on current exchange students, who often face problems (and feel abandoned) in their new environments. Therefore ESN offers help in academic, social and practical integration process. This is mainly done through activities in the local sections, which include cultural and socialevents such as trips to various places within the country, film nights, buddy group and language projects and international food fests and last, but not least, parties. In addition to that, many sections have introduced mentor systems, which help the international students mainly in academic and practical integration.
ESN also provides relevant information and encourages the future exchange students to gain the international experience and gain relevant insight to different cultures. Finally, ESN International is developing, from the Headquarters in Brussels, ambitious projects such as the Survey on the exchange students' rights, the ESNCard or the ESNFactory.
